The Equator Audio Q12 studio monitor was the first in the Q-Series to be designed and has become a favorite among many Equator customers. From the onset, Equator transducer engineer Walter Dick, pointed out that the physics involved within this model would be very well suited to provide a really accurate, wide response. As the first, all of the other models in the Q-Series used the Q12 as a starting template.

The system delivers 500 watts of continuous power to the woofer and 200 watts of continuous power to the horn, 1000 watts and 400 watts of peak power. Being of coaxial design with a real horn compression driver, it can reach sound pressure levels of 114 dB— incredibly loud before distortion. The monitor has a frequency response of 30Hz-22kHz.  Serious low end. The kick and the low-end punch are so good that many people forgo a subwoofer. This system feels and sounds like a BIG system.

This Q model has found a home with some of the most demanding, persnickety producers and engineers in the world.  "When I first hit the road to show off Equator Audio, it was the Q12 that people heard. President of Equator.  Some recent installs include Icon Studios, one of Atlanta's premier studios to a 5.1 setup within sound engineering curriculum studios at Pinnacle College in LA to being used at The Record Plant  in Hollywood serving as the monitoring system during some American Idol sessions.  

Included is the Equator Control software application that enables a mix engineer to manually compensate for acoustic anomalies such as issues created by speaker placement and boundary conditions within the listening environment. Along with the environmental compensation, this included software also provides extraordinary control over the monitors — including equalization, mute, solo, and phase.
